Valentino Rossi explains 2009 season and post-race celebration 2009-10-25
After one of most exciting MotoGP seasons, Valentino Rossi grabbed another MotoGP title, 9th in his career. In difficult conditions in Sepang, Rossi managed to recover from mistake in first corner and grab 163rd podium in career, which was enough to seal the title in front of his only challenger, team-mate Jorge Lorenzo. Read how Rossi described his 2009 season and post-race celebration.
Valentino Rossi wins 9th title in Sepang 2009-10-25
Race at Sepang was first chance for Valentino Rossi to claim 9th title in his career, which he took in a dramatic race which saw him making error in first corner and dropping to 8th position. After race-long recovery ride, Rossi managed to reach last podium step, which he inherited after fellow Italian Dovizioso crashed from that position. Third place was enough for Rossi to claim 9th MotoGP title in his career. Unlike Rossi, Casey Stoner had no problems at all and rode brilliant, error-free race, winning with 15 second advantage. Second rider in wet Sepang race was Dani Pedrosa, who finally managed to score decent result in wet race.
Rossi to start first title attempt from pole position 2009-10-24
Valentino Rossi will start Malaysian Grand Prix from pole position, in his first attempt to win 2009 MotoGP title. Rossi took pole position in Sepang by setting new pole position record, improving his own time from 2006. set on 990cc machine. Jorge Lorenzo continued good qualifying record, this time 0.569 seconds behind Rossi. Dani Pedrosa set 3rd fastest time, 0.167 seconds behind his Spanish rival, while last of the fast was Casey Stoner in 4th place. Stoner was at the same time last rider within one second from Rossi.
Stoner takes third in a row 2009-10-18
Casey Stoner took third consecutive victory at his home soil, as he managed to keep Valentino Rossi behind in a race that did not brought too much direct fight between two riders. Rossi was close behind Stoner through complete race, but never close enough to overtake Australian. Lack of risky ride for Rossi was also due to the fact that his main title rival, Jorge Lorenzo, crashed in first lap after mistake that led to collision with Nicky Hayden. Dani Pedrosa rode his own race to 3rd place, finishing 22 seconds behind Rossi.
Rossi brings donkey to another victory 2009-09-06
Valentino Rossi maybe called himself a donkey because of Indy crash, but this time at Misano he was more like a rabbit as he took another great victory important for his championship fight. Jorge Lorenzo finished race in second place, after leading long fight with Pedrosa for second place and being too far to challenge Rossi after passing Pedrosa. Pedrosa quickly lost contact with Rossi and Lorenzo and finished in lonely 3rd place, in front of guess-who: Andrea Dovizioso. Loris Capirossi rode fantastic race to finish in 5th place.
